San Francisco Giants Ownership Group

Internal Memorandum

To: DBL Commissioner’s Office

Subject: Ownership Exploration of Strategic Opportunities

In light of recent developments both on and off the field, the San Francisco Giants ownership group is formally announcing that we are evaluating strategic alternatives regarding the future of the franchise’s location and long-term viability.

We have been approached by a well-capitalized investor group based in Phoenix, Arizona expressing serious interest in acquiring and relocating a franchise to the region. This group has presented a compelling case for expansion into one of the fastest-growing sports markets in the country, offering infrastructure support, a long-term stadium proposal, and strong civic backing.

While no formal decision has been made, we believe it is prudent to begin internal discussions on this matter. The franchise’s value is arguably at its peak given our recent playoff performance and rising national profile. However, as we assess the competitive landscape of the Doubleday Baseball League, there are growing concerns about our ability to sustain a championship-caliber roster in the face of dominant and emerging powers like the Montreal Expos and Washington Senators. In particular, the Senators’ deep pool of draft capital and young talent poses a significant challenge in the years ahead.

It is the opinion of this ownership group that this moment may represent the optimal intersection of competitive success and market opportunity. We have invested significantly in building a winner in San Francisco, and our fans have supported us with passion and pride. But the economics of the league are shifting, and we must weigh sentiment with sustainability.

We will continue to explore our options over the coming months and will keep the league fully informed as any discussions progress. Our goal is to ensure that the long-term health of the franchise—and the league—is prioritized above all.

Sincerely,

The San Francisco Giants Ownership Group

Yesterday’s news suggested some fracturing between this beloved team and San Francisco city leaders. This will certainly not create the warm and fuzzies for their fans.
