It’s Deadline Week

The March 13 trade deadline is approaching fast, and across the DBL the usual cast of characters is settling into their roles.

You’ve got the “one piece away” contenders, who have finished 6th three years in a row but are convinced this is the season they should trade another first-round pick. Then there’s the pick hoarders, clutching their future selections like they’re family heirlooms that absolutely cannot be touched under any circumstances.

The serial rebuilders are back as well — you know, the teams that have been “two years away” since 2019. They’re shopping every player on the roster, but somehow still expect a first-round pick for a veteran everyone else dropped two seasons ago.

Meanwhile, the trade talk champions are hard at work sending messages like “open to ideas” and “make me an offer,” only to reject every deal within three minutes.

Of course, we can’t forget the silent observers — the managers who read every message, monitor every rumor, and then heroically make zero moves before the deadline passes.

Somewhere in all of this chaos, a few real contenders will actually make aggressive moves and try to win a championship. The rest will spend the week debating values, protecting picks, and convincing themselves patience is the same thing as strategy.

Either way, the DBL trade deadline always brings drama. The only real question is who’s actually playing the game — and who’s just watching from the sidelines.
