Jeff King also delivered, going 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBIs, and three runs scored. The Giants improve to 12-2, continuing their dominant run.

The Texas Rangers had no trouble taking care of the Chicago White Sox, securing a 10-2 victory at home. The Rangers’ offense overwhelmed Chicago, keeping them buried in the Central Division standings.

Chris Nabholz of the Pittsburgh Pirates threw a gem, going the distance in a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. His record improves to 2-0, with an incredible 0.67 ERA over three starts.

Kansas City kept their revenge tour alive, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4.
Seattle’s Struggles Continue
The Seattle Pilots dropped yet another close game, losing 3-2 to the San Diego Padres. Their slow start shows no signs of improving.
Senators Outlast Expos in 14 Innings
In a battle of endurance, the Washington Senators edged out the Montreal Expos 4-3 in 14 innings, scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th.

Randy Johnson’s Gem Wasted
Despite a brilliant performance from Randy Johnson (9 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 13 K), the Seattle Pilots fell 1-0 to the San Diego Padres. Johnson did everything he could, but the Pilots’ offense failed to support him. The loss adds to a season Seattle would rather forget.
Mets Crush Tigers
The New York Mets dominated the Detroit Tigers in an 8-0 shutout. Tony Tarasco starred, going 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBIs, and a walk. On the mound, Frank Castillo tossed eight innings of scoreless baseball, striking out nine while allowing just three hits.
Cardinals Stage Epic Comeback
The St. Louis Cardinals mounted an improbable rally, overcoming a 7-0 deficit to defeat the Kansas City Royals 8-7. St. Louis chipped away with runs in the sixth and seventh before erupting for four in the eighth and two more in the ninth for a thrilling walk-off victory.
Twins Storm Back Against Cubs
The Chicago Cubs couldn’t hold off the Minnesota Twins, surrendering two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth, leading to a 7-5 Twins victory.
Senators Beat Expos Again
Washington continued its success against Montreal, scoring four runs in the eighth and another in the ninth to secure an 8-3 win.

Pedro Martinez Strikes Out 17—Again
Pedro Martinez delivered another historic performance, striking out 17 over eight scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. This marks the second time this season he has struck out 17, and he now has 64 strikeouts on the season. If he maintains this pace, he’s on track to surpass 450 strikeouts.
Expos Edge Senators in Extras
After Washington tied the game in the ninth, the Expos answered in the 10th, walking it off for a 3-2 victory.
